Shakti Foundation has donated a dialysis machine to the Bangladesh Institute of Health Sciences (BIHS) to strengthen access to essential dialysis services for kidney patients. The machine was formally handed over at a ceremony held at BIHS on 23 August 2026. The initiative reflects Shakti Foundation’s continued commitment to making essential healthcare more accessible, particularly for people who require regular and specialized medical care.
Representing BIHS at the handover ceremony were National Professor Dr. Azad Khan, President of BADAS and Chairman of BUHS; Prof. Rashid-E-Mahbub, Joint Secretary General of BADAS; Dr. Fazlur Rahman, Director General, BIHS; and Dr. Mithila, Head of the Diabetes Department, BIHS. Shakti Foundation was represented by Humaira Islam, PhD, Founder & Executive Director; Asma Begum, Senior Director, Human Resources; Dr. Shamsher Ali Khan, Senior Director, Health & Climate Change; Mr. Shariful Islam, Senior Director, Administration; and Lipi Saha, Director, Health & Climate Change Program. During the meeting, both organizations discussed opportunities for future collaboration in kidney disease awareness, capacity building, and improving access to quality healthcare services. The discussions emphasized the importance of stronger institutional partnerships to address the growing healthcare needs of vulnerable communities. As part of the collaboration, BIHS General Hospital has also agreed to provide special discounts to Shakti Foundation employees on consultation fees, medicines, and other hospital-related services.
Through this initiative, Shakti Foundation and BIHS reaffirm their shared commitment to strengthening healthcare access and fostering meaningful partnerships that contribute to a healthier and more resilient society.
