Free Healthcare and Legal Services for Women and Children in Tea Garden Areas by Shakti Foundation

On 24 November 2025, Shakti Foundation organized a special outreach program to provide free healthcare and legal support to women workers of the tea gardens and their children. The camp was held at the Sathgaon Union Parishad premises in Sreemangal Upazila, where 250 people received essential medical services, consultations, and medicines under the supervision of two specialist doctors. This included 137 women, 108 children, and 5 other community members. In addition, with the support of the Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust (BLAST), an experienced lawyer provided free legal advice and assistance to 11 individuals.

The inaugural session was attended by the Union Parishad Chairman, the Assistant Head Teacher of Satgaon School, the Head Teacher of the local primary school, and senior officials of Shakti Foundation. Shakti Foundation and BLAST have long been working together to raise awareness and provide legal support to underprivileged women and adolescent girls.

This initiative has further strengthened the concept of “One Stop Service”—where marginalized women can access both healthcare and legal assistance in one place. For over three decades, Shakti Foundation has been working to improve the overall quality of life for women through a wide range of services including savings, loans, healthcare, legal aid, daycare centers, and elder care homes.
