In commemoration of National Mourning Day 2022, a "Tree Planting Program" was organized on the initiative of Dhaka North City Corporation, implemented and maintained by Shakti Foundation, and funded by HSBC Bank to restore the Lautala Canal of Ward No. 31 in Mohammadpur Basila area of Dhaka, to rehabilitate the ecology, greening, and beautification of the area.

The event was attended by the Honorable Mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation Mr. Atiqul Islam, Deputy Executive Director of Shakti Foundation Mr. Imran Ahmed, CEO of HSBC Bank Mr. Md. Mahbub-ur-Rahman, CEO of Zone-5 Mr. Mokabbir Hossain, and Councilor of Ward-31, Mr. Asif Ahmed.

One of the causes of global warming is deforestation. There is no alternate way other than planting trees to protect our environment, climate, and ecosystem. The lack of trees, especially in urban areas, is one of the causes of global warming and temperature rise. This project has been organized and will be continued to improve this situation.

Along with this, Shakti Foundation under its Climate Change Program has undertaken greening and tree planting programs in various places during the year.
