Supporting the Hospitals - Shakti Medical Assistants and volunteers have distributed free masks

Through the Health program, Shakti Foundation has stood by the mass in addition to various government initiatives to prevent covid-19. At hospitals designated for corona treatment in different districts, Shakti Medical Assistants (MATs) and volunteers have distributed free masks and drinking water among hospital staff and patients and their relatives.

Distributing N-95 Masks

When the pandemic hit Bangladesh for the first time, the medical front-line workers faced a crisis in obtaining necessary personal protective equipment including the very essential N-95 masks. Their health and lives were at stake in providing services to the COVID-19 positive patients. In order to mitigate this shortage, Shakti arranged and provided 500 N-95 masks to Kurmitola General Hospital in the midst of the crisis. (Date)

Distributing 100,000 Masks on the Eve of Mujib Borsho

March 2020 marked the 100 years of the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Shakti distributed 100,000 masks completely free of cost on the occasion among the beneficiaries through Shakti Medical Care Centers (SMCC).

Distribution of Mask, Sanitizer & Safe Drinking Water Free of Cost for COVID-19 in Hospitals

Recent upsurge in COVID-19 and advent of the third wave, Shakti stood beside the national course of action and took initiative to provide voluntary services to the government hospitals both in Dhaka and other districts from 6th to 12th July, 2021 where awareness campaign, distribution of free masks, use of hand sanitizers and distribution of free mineral waters were made across 3 hospitals in Dhaka and 6 hospitals in other districts.

This program was inaugurated on 6 July 2021 in 4 district city hospitals simultaneously. Mr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman, Director, Jessore Sadar Hospital, Dr. Sultan Khatun, Superintendent, Rajshahi Chest Disease Hospital, Area Supervisors of Shakti Foundation at Faridpur Medical College Hospital and Mymensingh Medical College Hospital inaugurated the program. Following this, on 8 July 2021, two simultaneous camps were organized at Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital and Sheikh Russel Gastroliver Institute & Hospital in Dhaka. Prof. Dr. Farooq Ahmed, Director of the hospital and Lipi Saha, Director of Health Program of Shakti Foundation and Shakti staff were present at the inauguration of the camp at Sheikh Russell Gastroliver Institute and Hospital.

The hospitals in which Shakti carried out this voluntary initiative are- Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital, Sheikh Russel Gastroliver Institute & Hospital, Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College & Hospital, Rajshahi Chest Disease Hospital, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College Hospital, Faridpur, Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital, Jashore 250 bed General Hospital, Kushtia 250 bed General Hospital and Barura Upazila Health Complex. A total of 6,850 masks, 2,960 water bottles and 123 hand sanitizers were distributed under the initiative, and sanitized the hands of all the incumbents to the facilities.
