“Mask Amar, Shurokkha Shobar” Campaign, July 2021

After the successful piloting of DNCC Mass Masking Campaign, Shakti Foundation this time organized the 1st phase of this mask campaign with the tagline “Mask Amar, Shurokkha Shobar” in collaboration with Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), Chittagong City Corporation (CCC), Department of Information and Communication Technology (ICT Division), A2I; Yale University, Innovation for Poverty Action (IPA) and BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD) as research partners; City Foundation and Foodpanda as Financial partners, and Young Bangla & BD Clean of the Center for Research and Information (CRI) as partner organizations in the distribution of masks.

On 16 July 2021 Mr. Md. Atiqul Islam, Mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), Mr. Md. Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, Mayor of City Corporation (Chasik), Mr. Junaid Ahmed Palak, State Minister for Information and Communication Technology, Mr. Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury, MP and Deputy Minister, Ministry of Education inaugurated the online campaign of “Mask Amar Surokkha Shobar” campaign at Korbani Pashur Haat for Eid-ul-Azha. Under the program, free masks have been distributed at 9 cattle markets of DNCC and 2 cattle markets of Chasik for 4 days from July 17-20 among the citizens to motivate the people across the country to wear masks properly. About 4,50,000 masks were distributed free of cost during this whole campaign among about 5 lakh people who were made aware of wearing masks properly and they were sanitized through 180-liter hand sanitizer. 410 mask promoters from Shakti Foundation, Young Bangla of Center for Research and Information (CRI) for the youth and BD Clean have worked tirelessly to implement this timely initiative from the front line.
